Our work

Scotland’s Towns Partnership is the voice of the country’s towns - championing their place at the heart of the nation and advocating their pivotal part in a stronger, more sustainable future.

We are helping shape a better future for towns and places more widely, representing and
promoting their diversity while supporting those organisations and groups who have an interest and ownership of them.

STP’s highly-respected expertise helps influence and share policies that impact upon towns, with positive relationships at all levels of government and local authorities. We act as a hub for relevant news and resources, knowledge and good practice; to support learning and community through events; and to raise the profile of Scotland’s towns. This includes spearheading the Scotland Loves Local campaign, with the support of the Scottish Government and other sponsors.

Scotland’s Towns Partnership is also responsible for Scotland’s Improvement Districts, which foster the development and continued success of Business Improvement Districts across Scotland.

Strategically, we have also made our voice heard in the development of Scotland’s highly-regarded Town Centre Action Plan and the subsequent independent review of its work, published in A New Future for Scotland’s Town Centres, and in taking those recommendations forward.

We are committed to helping drive innovation and positive change through its recommendations, ensuring cleaner, greener, healthier and fairer towns in the post-pandemic world.
We work closely with a range of other key partners. Our members include local authorities, business organisations, community groups, third sector bodies, individual advocates and practitioners.
