Business Stream is one of the largest water retailers in the UK. With over 18 years’ experience of operating in a competitive water market – longer than any other retailer – we’re the chosen provider for customers ranging from small corner shops to large industrial estates. Headquartered in Edinburgh and employing around 300 people, we provide a range of services to business customers including billing, water efficiency support and water and waste water management solutions.
From the outset of the Scottish retail water market opening in 2008, allowing non-household customers to choose their supplier, we’ve been working hard to drive change in the water sector and help businesses reap the benefits created by a competitive market. These benefits include improved customer service levels, lower bills, increased innovation and greater environmental efficiencies.
In addition to servicing our growing customer base in Scotland and England, in 2019 we launched our vision to make a positive difference to our customers, our people, the environment and our local communities.
In recognition of our commitment to sustainability, we have been awarded a Gold rating by global sustainability assessors, EcoVadis, for the past four years (achieving a score of 83/100 in 2026) – placing us within the top 98th percentile of all companies assessed. EcoVadis asses more than 75,000 companies in over 200 industries on their sustainability credentials. The assessment which measures companies performance against four key sustainability areas (the environment, labour and working conditions, sustainable procurement and ethics) is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO2600 certification.
