Dundee: Showcasing the best of local

Scotland Loves Local Dundee Gift Card

The Scotland Loves Local Dundee Gift Card was relaunched in July 2025 as part of an ongoing effort to encourage residents to support local businesses and strengthen the city’s economy. It is designed to make it easy for people to discover and shop at local businesses, the gift card has become a key tool in promoting economic sustainability across Dundee.

The relaunch of the Dundee Gift Card involved collaboration between local businesses, the Scottish Government, and Scotland’s Towns Partnership. Key actions included:

  • Expanding the number of participating businesses to over 200, ranging from shops and restaurants to specialty services.

  • Promoting the gift card as a convenient, versatile option for both gifting and personal use.

  • Showcasing businesses through local campaigns to raise awareness of the card’s benefits.

Local businesses have reported measurable benefits from participating in the scheme. Eliza Serban, owner of The Botanist and the Bee, shared:

“Being part of the gift card scheme has allowed us to reach new customers – we have had people coming in saying they didn’t realise we were here.Anything that supports small businesses like ours is a positive thing for the city.”

The Scotland Loves Local Dundee Gift Card demonstrates the power of initiatives like this in strengthening local economies. Spending just £1 more per week with local businesses could generate an estimated £7.7 million boost for the city, it fosters new customer relationships, supports jobs, and keeps money circulating within the city. With over 200 businesses participating and growing, the scheme continues to reinforce the message that supporting local is both easy and impactful.
