Former Brownfield site in Livingston transformed to provide 146 affordable homes

A project developed in partnership with West Lothian Council and the Wheatley Group has seen the transformation of the former brownfield site in Livingstone into 146 affordable homes.

Almondvale Court consists of a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom flats.

120 of the properties are for social rent, with the other 26 available for rental at mid-market rate. The development also includes 45 Livingwell homes, provided by Wheatley Care to support older tenants live happily, healthily and secure in their own homes for longer, with greater access to the town centre and local area.

The project was awarded the 2023 Scotland Loves Local Town Centre Living Award in a special ceremony at the V&A museum in Dundee. Details supporting its nomination outlined the importance of providing accessible, affordable homes:

“Our Livingwell customers benefit from a residents lounge where they can socialise with their neighbours and take part in activities which both helps to encourage a community feel as well as combating loneliness,” it said

“The proximity to the shopping centre has been hugely beneficial in enabling some customers to thrive independently.”
