Transforming Communities Glasgow (TC: G)

Transforming Communities Glasgow (TC:G) is a leading, long-term regeneration programme in Scotland, established in 2011 as a Special Purpose Vehicle. Its sole mission is to deliver sustainable, community-led change across eight Transformational Regeneration Areas (TRAs) that have historically faced population decline and limited housing choice.

TC:G’s success is rooted in its strategic partnerships with Glasgow City Council, Wheatley Homes Glasgow and the Scottish Government. Key professionals, including Robert McKinnon, Senior Land & Partnership Manager at Keepmoat, have been instrumental in this work, focusing on land assembly and delivery planning to ensure investment translates into liveable, thriving neighbourhoods.

To date, TC:G has guided over £680 million in regeneration investment, resulting in:

  • 3,100+ new homes, with 80% designated as affordable housing
  • The transformation of 23 hectares of vacant and derelict land
  • The creation of new schools, community facilities, commercial units and significant active travel network improvements

In every TRA, this physical investment is paired with a strong commitment to community engagement and local action plans to guarantee residents benefit from new employment, training and wellbeing opportunities.

Notable achievements include:

  • The Sighthill urban renewal project, which is reshaping opportunity with 1,150 new homes and a landmark footbridge over the M8
  • The development of a mixed-tenure neighbourhood in North Toryglen, guided by resident involvement
  • The ongoing phased redevelopment in Gallowgate, which includes new homes and the restoration of heritage assets like Whitevale Baths

TC:G proves the transformative potential when major partners unite to prioritise local voices and local investment for the creation of stronger communities across Glasgow.
