A new suite of reports published this month, highlights the many ways Scotland’s historic environment contributes to everyday life across the country.
The publications include the latest midpoint reporting for Our Past, Our Future (OPOF),
Scotland’s national strategy for the historic environment and Scotland’s Historic Environment
Audit (SHEA) 2026.
Together, they explore the contribution heritage makes to our economy, communities,
wellbeing, climate ambitions and local places, while also identifying opportunities for future
action.
The reports show that Scotland’s historic environment supports jobs and investment, helps
strengthen communities, contributes to climate resilience, and continues to matter to people
across the country. This includes an Insights Report for use in wider stakeholder advocacy,
with short strategic evidence statements about the impact and influence of Scotland’s
historic environment in national interests.
They also reflect the huge amount of work delivered by colleagues, partners, communities,
volunteers and organisations right across the sector.
Whether your role involves caring for historic places, supporting communities, developing
skills, delivering projects or building partnerships, there is something in these reports that
demonstrates the wider impact of the work happening across Scotland.
